Recipe Tips:

  • Use the Best Bread: Pick a crusty sourdough or ciabatta for the best texture. Soft bread will get soggy and won’t hold the toppings well.
  • Toast the Bread Properly: Grill or toast the bread until it’s golden and crispy. This helps it hold the toppings without getting soft too quickly.
  • Remove Tomato Seeds: Scoop out the seeds before chopping the tomatoes. This prevents the bruschetta from becoming watery and keeps the flavors fresh.
  • Use Fresh Basil the Right Way: Tear, don’t chop the basil leaves. Chopping can bruise them and make them lose their fresh taste.
  • Balance the Flavors: Add a little vinegar and olive oil to the tomatoes. The vinegar gives a slight tang, while the olive oil makes everything rich and delicious.

How To Store & Reheat Leftovers?

  • Refrigerate: Let the tomato mix cool, then store it in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Keep the toasted bread outside the fridge so it stays crispy.
  • Reheat: Heat a dry pan on medium heat and toast the bread slices for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy.
